For my blog I chose to read chapter 2. In this chapter, we learn about different narrative genres such as literacy narratives, memoirs, and photo essays but what they all have is a purpose, audience, rhetorical appeals, and modes & media. Within the chapter we are given examples of memoirs such as one from David Eggers. On the side of these memoirs are questions asking about the individual memoirs such as "How do I know this is a memoir?" Following some of these examples, we are told what to look for when analyzing graphic memoirs. Lastly, we learned about photo essays and were given a checklist as to what we needed to include in one such as style, design, and sources. Between all these types of genres, they all have to include the same 5 things, purpose, audience, rhetorical appeals, modes and media.
